The greatest danger in the desperate desire to get “tough on crime” in general, largely by the right, and as we seen the left on #metoo accusations, is to ignore presumption of innocence and due process.
We should never be in a place where liberties are shoved to the side for sake of cheep votes and small false sense of safety when we assume the guilty are behind bars.
Without proper due process it’s too likely we will have innocent people in jail while guilty men go unsuspected. Or dirty cops fitting people up go unpunished.
