A much as I wish all who stick their neck out and run well. I have to say, it all fails because pragmatists end up following and voting pragmatists, usually. Pragmatists would be wise to band behind a thick principled head.
Now I want to thank the 622 people, some of whom created some word of mouth, all likely. The 100+ who signed my paper, even know we shouldn’t need that to have to happen.
Now that petitioning, the hardest part and the 622 vote is something.
I am a first time at this level, if you don’t count being run around by the RP in 1997.
I had no press. I had no official feet on the ground but my one working one.
All I had was will pushing around my body, my nerve even. No car. In fact Global Misrepresented the Face of the ballot, leaving me out and the barely more succesful PPC Candidate in.
My Party, largely ignored. They followed mostly leaders, great job “local news.”
So the few sharing the limited info print outs and wearing my button, props. I won’t know who the word of mouth side is, but you do.
I plan to do this again. Send me a snail or e-mail about yourself and how to contact you in the future, to petition and get more footwork for the campaign. With feet on the ground and wheels, I could possibly win something.
I am no pragmatist.
My point about pragmatic Candidates, they wonder why people like me stay in and fight, well that’s the thing, why do they? Why do they even play chicken with a mentality like mine? Even with more votes, you lose, even moral victories. Pragmatism has few moral victories.
Thanks again signatories and voters of 2019. Maybe we can grow this and do it again.
