Subject: Bill C-10: Dangers In Silence.
Bcc: Press
Esteemed BC Senators,
“Freedom is the right to be wrong, not the right to do wrong.” – Prime Minister Diefenbaker, March 11, 1958
Words are not actions, I am sure politicians know this, being accused, anyway, of saying a lot and following through on nothing.
Or doing things they never promised, like C-10. Untested in an Election.
Freespeech is fundamental, in the Master-Law, the Bill of Rights and it’s more wishy washy copy the Rights and Freedoms Act
They speak of “hate” however people go into dark corners and esoterric parts of the internet for it, for the real Stormish sites.
Censorship drives people way underground. The internet is also kind of a 51st state, it’s built on DoD legislation under a 1st Amendment Protection. Which spells international incident and dangers in trade disputes.
Tasteless or crass jokes, opinions we may not like, what ever some over sensitive lily goes around whining about are what you protect. You don’t save thin skins.
Censorship is also about preventing people from seeing things of their own choice.
People who go around killing will use anything to self justify their actions, why does the Government want to help them justify their evil acts? Why recognize their justification?
The bill makes elected politicians a protected class, almost totally immune to being questioned by their voting public.
“We are not afraid to follow the truth where ever it may lead, nor [afraid] to tolerate any error so long as reason is left free to combat it.” — Thomas Jefferson
Misinformation? People have their own agency, if you ask me if you can’t out argue a few Q keyboard warriors you may want to think about that.
Colorful theories are fun, harmless, perhaps with some truths worth separating from the BS on my own. Got to trust individuals out there, and bloody hell require officials and political actors to respond with decent arguments and not ad hominems.
Canadian Content, if it’s any good people will choose to watch it. It’s not really lacking heavily anyway.
Taxation, they bleed more than enough from people and without cutting their own pay, in fact they increase it, there is no good reason for anyone to pay a tax on a steaming service.
I implore you to not support this bill, in fact request you fight it.
