Sure, you could protect a border, within reason. Print a common currency. Perhaps protect individuals from transgressions against their negative and constitutional rights. Like use a Federal Police force to arrest and penalize police brutality in other jurisdictions.
The huge problem, most of what the Central State, the Federal Government does. When not sending around Spies and Soldiers where they shouldn’t, they basically take money from people Nationwide and redistribute it to Civil Servants Foreign and Domestic.
Yes, Foreign Aide may have a cuddly explanation, however only higher ups of the civil servants will benefit, and their buddies. Both foreign and domestic.
The practice of grabbing taxes Nationwide and sending it to 2 major provinces, in size, again is Major civil service sending money to other Major civil servants. Very few dollars will reach anyone in need.
Even quangos they use to claim stuff like “well it’s not quite funding art, it’s funding the groups that pick who to fund,” largely run by former civil servants and again is worn down by process and never benefits anyone in the end. 1 Billion becomes 1 buck if your lucky.
The best solution is to end all that central authority and funding and much of the taxation. Leave it to provinces, and hopefully even they take it down to community.
Another means is a central regulation/bans of things like drugs, unless it effects trade, end the central authority’s control over domestic drug policy.
Federal Government is ideal for Libertarian Policy, even if you prefer a Provincial Run social program, since there is one less bureaucracy filtering out the money. Slash and Burn is actually reasonable and safe here. If you were to call decentralization such a thing.
There is no such thing as free stuff, frankly with Government, especially Federal Government, it’s fiscal entropy. The more you spend the more the financial system falls apart requiring even more funding and the cycle continues.
Basically most of what goes on is a central authority trying to control people, a state should not control people, it should be controlled.
Indian Act. We’ve seen attempts at “Reconciliation” which really just a back slap between politicians in both the Franglo-Saxon side and Native side and both basically sending resources largely to aide some form of civil service. Never an attempt to give crowned land to Individual Natives with dreams, without connections to the political orthodoxy of either side of the discussion.
It’s all for Politicians and Bureaucrats. There is someone who is still going to freeze to death with his dreams on Main Street.
End the Indian Act, take crowned land and put it in the hands of native people with plans for it, such as maybe one wants to run what is now a Government Camping Ground, usually better run by individual businessmen, or grazing land, or tree farm, a resort, or maybe lease the land as an income property.
Respect the individual. They’ve tried for too long to turn them into live stock, or maybe pets to feed by hand.
Property Rights of the individual is necessary to the liberty and dignity of the individual, the right to fail is also.
Shave off a good lot of these central controls over people and the taxes they claim pay for it, stop taking more loans and printing extra money and watch some growth. Even watch less resources being used, with all those computers and lights off. Yeah civil servants will lose jobs, but they will be cheaper on welfare. Some might find a true calling to survive.
Ending corporate welfare, foreign welfare (aide). Ending offices distributing it. The savings are endless.
Has anyone checked the Federal Government’s carbon footprint?
In case you want to share this with people in real life by printing it…..
