One of the last exotic dancing bar, and the only one with a reasonably sized stage (Orange is small), is known to be a pretty good place to see peelers show their amazing skills with a poll, despite killing the air dance for more touchy privates. This has changed.
Now a little while ago, me and a quorum of Vancouver area Libertarians had a nice Coffee and chatted about Police Brutality. This was important to me, having been a (presumably) law abiding individual who experienced it.
We got to this ID taking issue, and I said it was essentially ruining fun, basically it’s a wet blanket. A presumption of guilt, and violation of privacy.

Bars are now Communist check points. I had a pre-bought ticket for Stanhope years back, I ripped it up because the Bourbon wanted my ID.
They aren’t peace officers and have no warrant, they have no right. Hell, no one asked me for ID each time I ran for Mayor of Vancouver or the last time I voted.
Thursday the 27th, 2016 (Oct), Early in the 23rd Hour. I got to the Penthouse, they had an employee at the front door asking for ID, “On a Thursday,” I asked, he responded in the affirmative. I responded “sorry that doesn’t sit well with my Libertarian sensibilities,” oddly enough it’s 1 thing I can do to act on my Libertarian principles other than use and defend offensive humor, society isn’t very helpful to letting you be fully principled in that creed. Direct or indirect.
I feel bad for the dancers (drink servers) who lost tips.
If I know what dancers are working there and can get the tip to them (If I figure I would do it, usually it’s at least 1 at the stage, hard to predict, I never go in sure who will be up there and how good their act is) I would. But they suffer too.

The thing we all came to think, is they should advertise on all their multimedia and printed matter that they do this ID Check. Course I’d still refuse to go and still share my objection. I encourage others to follow the example and refuse these wet blankets.
Basically bars try to win points with the cops by being their tools in the fight against freedom (that they need to operate) turning their bar into a pinko check point.

Seriously go these places and walk away as they ask you and post about it with a tag like #fuckidchecks and #funcityitisnt because, this VPD ID check crap does not make for a fun city. Wet blanket that is a police state mentality.
