If your gimped by anything, have a surgery along the path of the petitioning period and nothing but bad weather that can ruin your campaign papers and your knee’s travel distance. Elections BC and the Parliament’s answer to you, is “stay off our fucking ballot.” Yest the NDP/Liberal ballot, if your a cripple you have to join them and be of use to them in a campaign ad to make the rest look more decent then they are. You need a sheltered location and a membership list to guarantee you signatures. Then it’s easy.
People drive you around, hell I did it for someone as a campaign manager an it was a third party with a membership list. But that person could be gimped and do their job with an active campaign manager, especially with a list.
All the candidate had to do under that circumstance it’s just “make the debate.”
Fact remains, if your working class or less; if your crippled and not of the major party machines, “stay off the ballot.” Is their message.
Hell Elections BC don’t even educate people or advertise how and what it takes to be on the ballot and no one tells all Candidates to canvass on their own, get the election fee on their own (although most major party people running can afford to just piss it away), and no one makes them get their own auditor (party provided, only Independents get screwed here).
Everyone is made to be ignorant about it, even the press ignore this.
